2017: An International Seminar and Exhibition on Phytopharmaceuticals: Emerging Challenges and Opportunities was held on 11-12 December 2017 at JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty
2012: Indo-South Africa Workshop on “Traditional Medicine System: Sharing Knowledge and Experience” was held on 29-31 October 2012 at the JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty.
2009: A five-day workshop on “Plant Nutraceuticals and Bioactive Molecules: A growth opportunity for the Pharmaceutical Industry in Australia and India”, a collaborative activity between Sydney University and J.S.S. College of Pharmacy was held during June 2-6, 2009 at J.S.S. College of Pharmacy, under Indo-Australian Strategic Research Fund.
2007: The Second Indo-Canadian conference on Natural Products was held during February 24-26, 2007 along with the International Conference in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Technology and Practice at JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty.
Global Affairs: TIFAC CORE in HD has been recognized as an official partner with International Natural Product Sciences Task Force, Europe
Networking Outcomes
Exhibition:TIFAC CORE in HD exhibited PHARMAC South 2018 at Chennai Trade Centre, organised by India Drug Manufacturer’s Association on 6th-7th July 2018 which attracted small-mid scale Pharma industries and consultancy services.
Outcome: Attending this event helped to link with industries.
VISIT TO SANOFI SYNTHELABO FACILITY, VERNA, GOA
Dr. S. P. Dhanabal, Principal, Dr. Suresh K. Mohankumar, Research Director and Dr. N. Krishna veni, Professor & Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty visited Sanofi Synthelabo Development Centre, Goa to strategically discuss on potential collaborations and facility sharing for the benefits of the industry, Academic Colleagues and also students on 6th August 2018.

Visit to DRF, New Delhi
The co-ordinator visited the senior management team, COO: Dr. Manu Jaggi, CSO: Dr. Anu and Head, Pharmacology: Mr. Kamaraj (JSSCP, Alumni) to discuss the collaborative projects. We have identified that a) phytochemical characterisation and b) biodistribution studies with In vivo animal imager are the potential projects could be initiated. We have agreed with the timeline preparing and signing CDA and MOU to pursue the associations further.
Outcome: CDA signed, Consultancy projects for phytochemical characterisation in pipeline.
Mr. Bob Sandhu visit to JSSCP, Ooty
The owner of M/S Sandhu Products Inc, USA and our alumni Mr. Bob Sandu had visited JSS College of Pharmacy to discuss various phyto-projects and contract research services requirements. This meeting was attended by all head of the departments, principal and others.
Outcome: The CDA was signed and currently one proposal has been submitted to M/S Sandhu Products Inc, USA for their review and consideration

Our Industrial Partners
M/s Tablets (India) Ltd., Chennai, is one of the Jhaver Group of companies whose turnover today is Rs.350/- Crores. The company has tie-ups with Japan and Switzerland and it deals in prescription drugs, generic drugs and drugs for export. A quarter of its turnover comes from exports alone. It has unique formulations based on amino acid nutraceuticals end products, meant for GI related problems. Recently, the company has expanded its activity in the area of herbal drugs and is a partnering industry of TIFAC CORE in Herbal Drugs. The company looks to introducing herbal drugs for the treatment of chronic ailments such as hypertension, arthritis and metabolic disorders.
Apex Laboratories, Chennai, established in 1978 launched for the first time in India, a zinc-based product, ‘Zincofer’ and in quick succession became the pioneers in the use of Zinc in pharmaceutical formulations. At present Apex has a fully automated modern manufacturing complex, conforming to WHO-GMP standards with a turnover in Rs. 700 million. Next in line to be launched are Ayurvedic products. Apex is also into nutraceuticals aimed at providing relief to patients from osteoarthritis with products such as Caravit and Sulfovit. The company has also under its control about 1600 acres of Private Reserve Forest in Agastia Hills in Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu in South India, which is being surveyed for identifying the plants of medicinal value. Several herbal products launched by the company have been already subjected to efficacy and toxicity studies at TIFAC CORE HD. Techniques have been evolved for the standardization of the individual ingredients of the herbal extracts used in the polyherbal formulations to conform the authenticity, purity and quality of the products.
