Model making competition for MBBS & MSc students

  • Objectives
    • To choose the right antimicrobial agent in the right dosage
    • To prevent irrational use of antibiotics
  • The context: To facilitate a deeper understanding of the subject
  • The practice: Carried out successfully for the previous 3 batches of MBBS students.
  • Evidence of success: Enthusiastic participation by students and improved University exam results.

  • Objectives
    • To choose the right antimicrobial agent in the right dosage
    • To prevent irrational use of antibiotics
  • The context: Increasing incidence of antibiotic resistance globally. Death of many patients due to MDR pathogens.
  • The practice: Difficult to treat infections are effectively treated in consultation with Microbiologists in the right dose and duration.
  • Evidence of success: Many life threatening infections are successfully treated at JSS hospital

  • Objectives:To drive the message of the rational use of antibiotics to MBBS students such that they can rationally use the antibiotics in their practice
  • The context: Irrational use of antibiotics by the clinicians and emerging drug resistance.
  • The practice: The game was made to play by MBBS students.
  • Evidence of success: A test given after many days showed good knowledge about rational use of antibiotics.

  • Objectives: To make MBBS students competent to understand, diagnose and treat infectious diseases competently.
  • The context: Unnecessary investigations done on patients without understanding the context of the scenario and able to interpret the lab results properly. Also unnecessary broad spectrum antibiotics used to treat the infections
  • The practice: The game was made to be played by MBBS students.
  • Evidence of success: A test given after many days showed good knowledge about lab investigations and their interpretation

Poem composition for hand hygiene

  • Objectives: To make MBBS students competent on hand hygiene practices and understand the vitality of this practice in prevention of infections in the hospital
  • The context: Poor hand hygiene compliance among doctors and students
  • The practice: The poem was made to be composed by MBBS students.
  • Evidence of success: Improved hand hygiene compliance by doctors and students in the hospital. (compliance improved from 35% to 60%)
