Clinical and Diagnostic Microbiology plays a vital role in diagnosis and management of various Infectious diseases including outbreaks. Department of Microbiology, under the management of JSSAHER was established in the year 1984. Through 40 years, it has evolved a lot. Currently the department has 11 qualified MD Microbiology faculty and 3 Demonstrators. The Department is committed to give quality and timely services to the patients utilizing state of art facilities available. About 500 samples are received each day round the clock and reports are dispatched well within the turnaround time. The Department is equipped to cater its services not only to the parent institute but also to several other hospitals in and around Mysore. The distinctive motto of the department is to “SAVE ANTIBIOTICS, SAVE LIVES” wherein it takes a major step towards fighting anti-microbial resistance by arriving at the etiological diagnosis and reporting minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for antibiotics.
