Research Coordination Cell

JSSCPM conducts cutting edge research activities in the arena of drug discovery to promote the societal healthcare through development of safe and cost-effective therapeutics. Students and Scholars are trained in the frontiers of drug research fields like drug designing, synthesis, formulation, quality control and quality assurance, preclinical evaluation and clinical trials. Thus, the research aspirants at JSSCPM undergo a practical bench to bedside experience in the drug discovery and development processes.

The Research Coordination Cell (RCC) of JSSCPM was established at JSSCPM in 2020. In alignment with JSS AHER strategies and quality standards for academic research, RCC functions to strengthen the academic standards, and to set the pace with global trends in drug discovery and testing.

Grants

Extramural Grants

JSSCPM faculties have roped-in the major and minor grants from the various Govt funding agencies like Dept of Science and Technology, Dept of Biotech, Indian Council for Medical Research, University Grant commission, SERB, AICTE, etc. Sanction of the grants from govt agencies enlightens the high standard of research works of the faculties and scholars. The faculties from JSSCPM also participate in obtaining infrastructure grants like DST-FIST, DST-PURSE, DBT-BUILDER, VGST, MODROBS- AICTE.

Intramural Grants

JSS AHER encourages young faculties and researchers by granting seed grants and connects to the established inhouse and outside scientists to develop thrust areas, and new technologies. JSS AHER also support to constitute special interest groups (SIGs) and provides funds for research and communications.

Consultancy

JSSCPM is specialized in drug designing, synthesis, formulation and quality control, drug testing, preclinical evaluation and problem-solving studies and preparation of corporate plans and strategies for clients. JSSCPM faculty are not only qualified in terms of their specialization fields but majority of them have diverse industry backgrounds as part of their professional experience apart from academics. This in fact helps JSSCPM to focus on consultancy across industries and cross functional areas of pharma.

Centre for Integrated Drug Discovery and Testing (CIDT) is an innovative and expertise driven core centre created to collaborate and extend end to end scientific services to the pharma, nutraceutical and biotech industries whilst creating long term value through drug discovery program and regulatory submissions.

Patents

The laboratory findings and products developed at JSSCPM are focused to reach the common man and benefit the society. Faculty and scholars are highly motivated and supported to grip their findings and products through patenting. JSS AHER has established a patent cell office, identified well-qualified patent attorneys and full financial assistance for patent applications and renewal.

Technology Transfers

JSSCPM facilitates the transfer of its own laboratory data, designs, and products into commercialisation through tech transfer process. It is facilitated by two ways

PhD Program

The prospective PhD aspirant is selected through common entrance exam. As per the JSS AHER research guidelines, PhD degree is pursued as full time (minimum three years) and part time programs (minimum four years; institutional MoU). The institution fully encourages the fulltime scholars apply for the various govt fellowships like ICMR, CSIR, DST-Inspire, DBT, etc.

Centre for Integrated Drug Discovery and Testing

CIDT is a unique research initiative of JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, to liaison industry -academia at basic biomedical and translational research platforms. CIDT is an innovative and expertise driven core centre created to collaborate and extend end to end scientific services to the pharma, agro and biotech industries whilst creating long term value through drug discovery program and regulatory submissions.

CIDT model includes chemistry, in vitro assays, in vivo efficacy, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic studies, non-clinical safety and toxicity and approximation of the mode of action and clinical trials. Our charge based-services scope includes plant-based compounds, pharmaceuticals (including NCEs) and biologics (Abs, peptides, proteins).

Infrastructure and Equipment

CIDT's unique infrastructure supports drug discovery program from designing to the finished products.

Individually ventilated caging system (IVC)

Dedicated IVC systems for rats and mice in place to perform experiments on immune-compromised animals in areas oncology, inflammation, neurodegenerative disorders.

Clinical Chemistry and Molecular Biology

The biochemistry and molecular biology facilities are capable of taking up any work on Pharmacology and Toxicology field. These division have facilities like centrifuges, water baths, incubators, etc. and has the capacity to evidenced based assay like gel electrophoresis, western blotting, and ELISA.

Preclinical Toxicology Services

Toxicology is a highly eclectic branch of medical science that deals with study of toxic / adverse effects of chemicals, biologics in living systems. This branch of science serves the society in many ways by not restricting to protect humans and the environment from the deleterious effects of toxicants but also to facilitate the development of newer drugs. CIDT is approved (license no: 155/PO/Re/S/1999/CPCSEA) by Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experimentation on Animals (CPCSEA), Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, to conduct experiments on animals (rodents, guinea pigs, rabbits)
