Sensitisation of Medical Students on IMA Junior Doctors Network
JSS Medical College had organised a sensitisation programme for students on IMA Junior Doctors’ Network in association with Indian Medical Association Karnataka State branch and Mysuru local branch with the co-ordination of Dr M R Narayanamurthy M R, Professor and Head Department of Community Medicine, Dr G V Manjunath , Vice-Principal, JSS Medical College, Mysuru and Dr Suresh Rudrappa, Senior Vice President, IMA KSB
The programme began with IMA Prayer, rendered by Dr Suresh Rudrappa.
Dr G V Manjunath, Vice Principal, formally welcomed the resource persons and students and explained the context of having the awareness raising session on IMA Junior Doctors Network.
Dr Subhash Chandra B.J, Professor and Head Department of General Medicine, introduced chief guest Dr Annadani M Meti, President IMA Karnataka State Branch. Following the introduction Dr Annadani M Meti addressed students to brief about the various problems faced by Medical students and junior doctors in medical practice and how Indian Medical Association can support for the welfare of Junior d¬octors.
The guest speaker of the day, Dr Abul Hassan, National Co-ordinator for Junior doctors & Student network, IMA National Headquarters, Erod, Tamil Nadu, was introduced to the students by Dr NayanaShabadi, Assistant Professor,Department of Community Medicine. Following this Dr Abul Hassan delivered the lecture highlighting existence of IMA Junior Doctors Network and the objectives and activities of the network such as
- National online survey of Junior and Resident doctors
- Sensitizing the young graduates regarding the challenges in pursuing their practice & giving them solutions
- Helping them to Showcase innovations & out of the box ideas in their career.
- Establish State & City level networking through IMA Branches.
- Ensuring good working environment for Junior Doctors
- Helping in Job finding & Carrier Guidance. And in protecting rights of doctors.

- He explained about PG SATHI App. In which PG aspirants can download the app and they can give mock exams whenever they want.
Dr Abul also introduced about Doctor 4 Doctors initiative for the Emotional health and emotional wellbeing of the Medical Students and junior doctors in India. It is an initiative to tackle the burden of burnout and rising rates of mental health challenges and suicides among Medical Students (UG & PG) and practicing Doctors in the clinical setting.
The response from the students was well appreciated and majority of them voluntarily enrolled in the nationwide survey, by providing their email id and phone numbers.
Before concluding the programme, as a token of appreciation from JSS Medical College, mementos were given to the guest speakers by Dr Guruswamy, Dr G V Manjunath and Dr Narayanamurthy M R.
The programme was concluded by vote of thanks by Dr Suresh Rudrappa.
