TIFAC CORE in HD has established a link with Dr. Anthony Booker, Senior Lecturer in Ethnomedicine, Ethnopharmacy and Medicinal Plant Science, Herbal and East Asian Medicine, University of Westminster and submitted a proposal to organize a Researcher Links Workshop. The centre has established a link with Center for Natural Product Research & Drug Discovery, University of Malaya and Vietnam Academy Science & Technology, Vietnam and submitted a INDO-ASEAN proposal. The centre has hosted and trained TWO International Research Fellows, CV RAMAN FELLOW from Ivory Coast under the guidance of Dr. S. P Dhanabal.
• Academic programme by name Phytopharmacy;Phytomedicine in M. Pharmacy curricularm was started in the year 2001 with an intake of 10 seats per batch. Totally 108 students from 12 batches have been successfully graduated and well employed in various industries and institutions.
• PG diploma course in production and quality control of medicinal plants, in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, Coimbatore was introduced in Sep 2005. 3 batch of students comprising a total of 9 students have graduated under this programme

The highlights of this student project will be

• Students admitted to M. Pharm Pharmacognosy programme will be eligible to apply for this competitive fellowship (Eligibility and admission logistics to be finalised)

• TIFAC CORE conducted a training on one of the emerging gene editing tools, CRISPR-CAS at research level for academic and industrial researchers, a two-day workshop on "Gene editing using "CRISPR-CAS": hands-on training on its basics and applications in drug discovery" was held during December 13 - 14, 2018 at JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, Tamil Nadu. During the inauguration, the chief guest felicitated JSSCP alumni Mr. Muthuswamy (Samy) Shanmugam, the Founder and President of Novitium Pharma, USA as an "Outstanding Entrepreneur" and Dr. Nirmal Robinson, Senior Research Fellow and Head, Centre for Cancer Biology, University of South Australia, Australia, as an Outstanding Researcher"
• The TIFAC CORE in Herbal Drugs, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty had organised a "Knowledge Exchange Forum on Nigiri's Biosphere Research Conservation on 5th Feb 2019. Dr. Dhanabal, the Principal of JSS College of Pharmacy welcomed the gathering both international and regional interest groups. In this event, the president of Scientific Committee for Problem of Environment (SCOPE), Prof. Jan Samseth from Norway and the Former Director of Division of Ecological and Earth Sciences, UNESCO, Prof. Natarajan Ishwaran from China were attended to brief the objectivities and activities of SCOPE and their aspiration to establish a nodal centre in India. Prof. James C. Griffith, Scientific Advisor of Responsible Clinical Nutrition, USA and adjunct faculty of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru had congratulated both JSS & SCOPE for their timely initiatives on addressing environmental issues.
• Dr. M. Sureshkumar, the co-ordinator of TIFAC CORE in HD, Department of Pharmacognosy delivered a lecture on the journey and its impact of the various initiatives of JSS to support Nilgiri's bioconservation, including scientific expertise on regional medicinal plants, tribal empowerment and sustainable eco-system. The members and representatives of local interest groups including AYUSH, Tribal Research Centre, Govt. Arts College, C.P.R Environment Education Centre were activity participated in the discussion and shared their experience with regional environment and eco-system.

• Dr.Shanmugam delivered a talk in One day orientation cum workshop on research tools: Tips and strategies for scholarly writers on 28th april 2023, at JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty.

• The owner of M/S Sandhu Products Inc, USA and our alumni Mr. Bob Sandu had visited JSS College of Pharmacy to discuss various phyto-projects and contract research services requirements. This meeting was attended by all head of the departments, principal and others.

• TIFAC CORE in Herbal Drugs, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Human Biological Institute, Indian Immunologicals Ltd, Hyderabad on 12th Aug, 2022 for the analysis of their samples of Raw Materials, Intermediates and Finished Products at DTL facility. Human Biologicals Institute (HBI) is a division of Indian Immunologicals Ltd, involved in the Human Health Business. HBI was established in the year 1998, when the Govt. of India requested IIL to produce a modern tissue culture anti-rabies vaccine to phase out the unsafe Nerve Tissue Vaccine (NTV).

• TIFAC CORE in Herbal Drugs, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Ayurveda Research Institute for Panchakarma (NARIP), under Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, New Delhi in the presence of Dr.Sudhakar, Director (NARIP) on 30-11-2023 for the research and development in the field of herbal research.NARIP is an autonomous organization which comes under the Ministry of Ayush, Govt of India is a nodal apex body in the country for the formulation and coordination of research in Ayurvedic sciences on scientific lines. NARIP, Cherulhuruthy is a peripheral institute under Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India and is providing Ayurvedic health care services to the general public through its outpatient and inpatient units.
  Possible outcome
  Joint research project in the fields of herbal research, Joint publication and report, opportunities for the faculty and students training, organizing joint conference/workshop/courses, sharing of facilities, project work for students and bilateral Co-Operation in Intellectual Properties.
