Department of Medical Genetics, is relatively a new department started in 2019 under JSS Medical College. The department has 3 wings, Diagnostics, education and research. The department offer undergraduate BSc Honors and Integrated MSc in medical genetics and Genomics, and PhD programs. The department is one of its kind to stimulate learning in hospital settings with emphasis on research driven learning and an only college in Mysore to offer an undergraduate BSc Honors course in medical genetics. The course is aimed at imparting strong foundational knowledge in genetics and to expose students to the emerging field of genomic medicine. The department has initiated medical genetics laboratory at the JSS Hospital with state-of-the-art equipments and facilities. It caters to the genetic diagnostic needs of the patients in and around the Mysuru district.
Vision
To develop an integrated Clinical Laboratory and Academic centre that provides genomic services to the society, focuses on rapid translation of research to services and offer skill development training programmes.
