Department of General Medicine, the largest of the clinical departments, was established in the year 1984 with a vision to achieve excellence in the patient care and also to develop good quality undergraduate and postgraduate students of international standards. This vision was accomplished by way of simultaneous academic and research training of both the students and faculty continually. Presently apart from its routine responsibility of patient care and students training, faculties and students are regularly involved in original research work including quality publications. Both undergraduates and postgraduate students are guided and given good opportunity for stage presentations at various state and national level forums. This is reflected by good number of best paper awards at various national conferences including best thesis awards. Departmental faculty are regularly involved in global and national clinical trials of various phases and hence contributing for the clinical research of new drug molecules.
