Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory

The Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory section having the largest floor area for working is located in the ground floor of JSS Hospital, Mysuru. It is a 24X 7 set up, having fully automated, state of art equipments with stand by facilities and highly qualified Laboratory Consultants & Technicians. At the new JSS Hospital premises since its inception, the laboratory caters to the diagnostic needs of the physicians round the clock and has increased both in number and scope over the last 7 years. The Laboratory currently offers more than 100 different parameters in its scope of which currently some are being done exclusively in JSS Hospital, Mysuru. Apart from routine chemistry and immunoassays the others special tests include Ionized Calcium, G-6PD estimation, Homocysteine, C3, C4, Methemoglobin, Procalcitonin, Insulin & C- Peptide and hormones related to bone profile, fertility profile, Tumor Markers, Anemia Profile, New Born Screening and Maternal Serum Screening for Double and triple markers.

The laboratory faculty is involved in clinical interpretation of the patient reports as well as training of the undergraduate and postgraduate students Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory strictly adheres to its quality policy and confers to all the standards to ensure quality care to the patients. The Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory is in the process of National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accreditation.

Quality assurance

To be the preferred comprehensive center of excellence for medical education, care providers and patient’s satisfaction for accessing affordable healthcare delivered with a human touch

  • System of assuring quality in the examination procedures, as per the requirement of the tests, so as to ensure its accuracy and reliability.
  • Validation of the examination procedure technically and clinically will be done by qualified, well trained Consultant Biochemists
  • Calibration and Maintenance of equipment done strictly as per the recommendations of the equipment manufacturer.
  • Internal quality control (Biorad) is done thrice a day for routine chemistry parameters once a day, for special tests as per the requirement. Outliers, if any are identified and corrective and preventive actions taken
  • Critical values (panic values) are intimated to the ward/clinician immediately All technical staff will follow critical value policy without fail.
  • Stat requisitions are done on priority
  • External Quality Assessment Program: Monthly participation in the Biorad EQAS program. Outliers, if any are identified and corrective and preventive actions taken
  • Lab safety policy to provide a safe working environment for staff
  • Periodic training of staff
