The department of Pharmacology at JSS Medical College, Mysuru was established in the year 1984.The department is committed to high quality teaching of Pharmacology to medical, dental & paramedical specialities.

  • Geriatric care at JSS HOSPITAL- Comprehensive assessment and Pharmacotherapy of elderly patients as per beers criteria, Polypharmacy, PK and PD drug interactions, adverse outcomes in elderly patients
  • Clinical pharmacology unit -Therapeutic exercises linking basic with clinical pharmacology
  • Antibiotic stewardship - involved in antibiotic audits in different clinical departments

Curriculum has been developed as per the norms set by MCI, DCI, UGC and CBCS protocol stresses on the following

  • For MD we have these aspects which will be covered. Teaching the essential aspects of pharmacotherapy of various diseases, pharmacovigilance, prescription audit and Therapeutic drug monitoring.
    • Practical skills and preclinical and clinical research methodology training, clinical and geriatric postings.
    • Seminars, case discussions, journal clubs, conducting quarterly internal assessment and end of term examinations.
  • For MBBS- Theory classes and Practicals, vertical integrated teaching, seminars
  • For BDS-Theory and practical classes
  • For B.Sc. AHS- Theory classes, Practicals
    • Internal assessment and end of term examinations are conducted for all the courses.
