Department of Anatomy

The Department of Anatomy sprouted under the leadership of Dr.Jayavelu during inception of JSS Medical College in the year 1984. Initially only MBBS course was offered, with the growth of the institution and university the department has expanded to impart undergraduate & postgraduate medical training and other courses such as BDS, MDS, B.Sc. AHS, M.Sc., B.Sc & MSc Nursing, BPT, MPT, BSc & MSc speech & Hearing, MTech, PhD.

As a department, we espouse the institution`s vision & mission and so the quest for excellence in teaching, research and clinical services

We inculcate our students a sense of wonder at the beauty of the human body and values of respect for the cadaver. We also extend our Anatomy museum service to public as well as school & college students to educate and create awareness. JSS volutary body donation association has been established, with more than 3500 registered volunteers and around 467 donated cadavers.

Genetic Clinic has been established and cater Genetic counselling to the needy. Department has received grant of about 3 crores and 7 projects from different agencies like ICMR, IISC, India alliance. We have MoU signed with TIGS, ORDI, Shanmukh, Novartis.

The department is also an active collaborator and organiser for various cadaveric workshops for post-graduate training and skills training in surgical and allied disciplines.

"Mannar Krishna gold medal" award has been instilled for MBBS students who score highest marks in Anatomy in the university examination

The department is equipped with excellent state of the art infrastructure, laboratories and modern teaching aids. Department is progressing towards greater heights. with the ardent support of experienced, qualified and dedicated teaching and support staff. In recognition to the services provided in Medical education.
