JSSMCMUN is back, once again offering a platform for engaging, productive discussions on global issues, and the creation of actionable policies aimed at the betterment of humanity. This event presents a unique opportunity for delegates from diverse backgrounds to come together, fostering the development of invaluable skills, and a deep understanding of governance and policymaking.
The inaugural edition of JSSMUN in 2022 marked a historic milestone as Mysuru’s first-ever Model United Nations, bringing together 150 delegates for two days of exceptional diplomacy and debate. In the following years, JSSMUN grew tremendously, attracting more delegates, fostering deeper discussions, and expanding its impact as a premier platform for youth diplomacy. Now, the Fourth Edition of JSSMUN continues this legacy, focusing on the most pressing national and international issues through collaboration, dialogue, and leadership.
Lok Sabha (House of the People) is the lower chamber of India’s bicameral Parliament, vested with supreme legislative authority. Representing the collective voice of citizens, it plays a pivotal role in shaping national policy, enacting laws, controlling public finances, and holding the executive accountable. With members directly elected by the people, it stands as the embodiment of India’s democratic ethos—a forum where ideas and diverse ideologies converge, differences are debated, and decisions with far-reaching consequences are made.
Agenda: Assessing the Impact of Higher Professional Educational Policies Across All States with a Focus on Potential Reforms
The agenda calls for a comprehensive review of how existing frameworks shape India’s professional education landscape. Despite expansion in medical, engineering, law, and management institutions, disparities in quality, access, and affordability persist across states. Differences in regulatory capacity, faculty availability, and infrastructural investment continue to affect student outcomes. The committee must evaluate how policies such as the National Education Policy (NEP), accreditation norms, reservation policies, and fee regulations translate into on-ground realities. Strengthening industry-academia collaboration, promoting research ecosystems, and reducing regional inequities remain central to meaningful reform. As India prepares for a rapidly evolving global knowledge economy, the committee seeks innovative, uniform, and inclusive policy interventions to ensure that professional education becomes equitable, future-ready, and capable of producing skilled, ethical, and socially conscious professionals.
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations entrusted with the maintenance of international peace and security. It holds the authority to impose sanctions, authorize peacekeeping missions, and mediate in conflicts threatening global stability. The UNSC works with member states to prevent the escalation of disputes and promote diplomatic resolutions.
Agenda: Ensuring Maritime Security and Freedom of Navigation in the South China Sea amid Rising Territorial Disputes.
The South China Sea is a critical maritime region, serving as one of the world’s busiest trade routes and a persistent hotspot for escalating geopolitical tensions. Competing claims over islands and resources have led to regional instability, challenging international maritime law, and jeopardizing freedom of navigation for all nations.
The committee will critically assess recent incidents, deliberate on measures to uphold the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and explore diplomatic pathways to curb the increasing pace of militarization in contested waters. Delegates are expected to go beyond condemnations and propose actionable, comprehensive frameworks focused on de-escalation, sustained dialogue, and sustainable maritime security for the benefit of the entire international community.
The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is a principal UN body dedicated to the promotion and protection of human rights globally. It addresses pressing human rights issues, conducts reviews of member states, and fosters international cooperation to ensure fairness, transparency, and justice in all legal systems.

The application of the death penalty remains a complex and polarizing issue, raising serious concerns regarding due process, the finality of irreversible errors and compliance with the prohibition of cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment. Furthermore, issues of disproportionate application based on race, socioeconomic status, or political affiliation undermine the integrity of justice systems globally.
The committee will undertake a comprehensive examination of the judicial processes surrounding capital punishment, focusing on standards of fair trial, access to legal counsel, and judicial transparency. Delegates are called upon to review arguments for and against the use of the death penalty, and propose frameworks for legal reform, strengthening oversight mechanisms, promoting moratoriums, and ensuring that all criminal justice practices strictly adhere to international human rights standards and treaties.
