JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSSAHER), formerly JSS University, is a deemed-to-be university established in 2008 under the guidance of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji. The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, established in 1983, provides rigorous and comprehensive training in both core and applied chemical sciences that are fundamental to drug discovery, development, and quality analysis. The department offers postgraduate (M.Pharm) and doctoral (Ph.D.) programmes in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Analysis, alongside postgraduate diplomas such as Computer-Aided Drug Design and Food & Drug Analysis. With modern laboratories, advanced instrumentation, well-qualified faculty, and a curriculum blending medicinal chemistry, analytical methods, organic chemistry and computational drug-design, the department readies students for careers in pharmaceutical research, drug development, quality control, analytical services, and other scientific roles in industry and academia.

JSS Medical College, Mysuru, was started in 1984-85 and is imparting education in medical sciences (MBBS) course. It is recognized by the Medical Council of India and for its excellence in medical education, research, and compassionate healthcare, securing the 37th rank in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025. The institution is supported by JSS Hospital, one of India’s largest tertiary care teaching hospitals with 1,800 beds under one roof. The Department of Biochemistry at JSS Medical College, Mysuru, is dedicated to excellence in teaching, diagnostics, and translational research, supported by highly qualified faculty training undergraduate and postgraduate students across MBBS, MD, BDS, MDS, Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, and Ph.D. programs. The NABL-accredited Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory at JSS Hospital, the largest in Mysuru, operates round the clock with state-of-the-art automated analyzers, performing over 3,000 tests daily, including immunoassays, blood gas analysis, HbA1c, newborn screening, electrophoresis, maternal serum screening, and specialized biochemical investigations; the laboratory also supports Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) services. The department further promotes interdisciplinary research through the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine (established in 2012), contributing significantly to academic innovation and patient-centric healthcare.
