Established in 1980 with D.Pharm. program, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty is a constituent college of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru since 2008, and positioned today as one of the premier postgraduate and research institution imparting D.Pharm., B.Pharm., M.Pharm., (10 Specializations) Pharm.D., and PhD. Programs. The 'Add-On' PG Diploma/Certificate courses offered to the students/scholars are for value addition and nurturing their knowledge in inter-disciplinary subjects. As strong believers in 'Team Play', our focus is on collaboration instead of competition resulting in National/International MoUs to foster teaching-learning, research through faculty/student exchange, consultancy, training programs, etc.

Scholarly Activities

The outcomes of the research are translated into research publications/presentations both at national and international platforms. The inventions have been patented and few of them had undergone technology transfer to pharmaceutical industry. The structured MoUs with industrial and academic collaborators enable the college to provide consultancy services in all facets of pharmaceutical sciences and practice. Research fellows and post graduate students from foreign Universities are regularly visiting various departments/laboratories for short term research activities/training. Major Research Grants from National Funding Agencies reveal the quality of the research of University and programs offered as a whole and college in particular. The college also conducts staff development programs, seminars, conferences, workshops at both national and international levels in various fields of pharmaceutical sciences and practice for knowledge sharing.

Infrastructure and Research Facilities

Outstanding infrastructure built in the serene campus with the extent of about 6.2 acres dedicated exclusively for the Pharmacy discipline makes the teaching learning process a pleasurable experience. The entire campus including the residential facilities is Wi-Fi enabled with uninterrupted power and water supply. 24x7 functioning state-of-the-art laboratories facilitate quality research in pharmaceutical sciences and practice. The salient achievements and recognitions of the college include but not limited to, being Pioneers in Pharmacy Practice Education/Training and many Post-Graduate specializations in the country, TIFAC-CORE in herbal drugs approved by DST, BA/BE center and Institutional Ethical Committee (IEC) approved by DCGI, Drug Testing Laboratory approved by Government of Tamil Nadu, Faculty Training Centre, Industry Institution Interaction Cell and Entrepreneurship Cell approved by AICTE. Centre for Advanced Drug Research and Testing (CADRAT) of the college is recognized for its expertise in industrial/academic consultancy that provides opportunity for problem based learning.

Thus, we as a constituent college of JSS AHER, Mysuru are accredited 'A+' Grade by NAAC, our B.Pharm. Program is accredited by NBA, New Delhi and the Pharm.D. Program is awarded with international certification by ACPE, USA for the first time in the Asia Pacific Region. The Drug Testing Laboratory is accredited by NABL. Both the college and CADRAT are certified with ISO 9001:2015for the quality management systems.

We ensure the quality of the students both at entry and exit levels. We strive to cater to pharmacy professionals with knowledge, skills and competencies at global standards with imbibed core values of respect, professionalism, leadership and social responsibilities to meet the health care needs of mankind. Hence, apart from the conventional teaching and education, the social and professional responsibilities are inculcated through outreach programs, while personality development programs, sports, cultural and literary activities facilitate holistic development of graduates. Community Outreach Programs and Social Responsibilities

The college is providing 'Clinical Pharmacy Services' to the Government District Head Quarters Hospital, a 420 bedded secondary care hospital at Ooty. It has established a 'Drug and Poison Information Centre' & 'Centre for Patient Counseling and Education' at the hospital and caters to the healthcare professionals and patient community.

The college has adopted two tribal villages namely Veerakombai and Nedugalcombai of Nilgiris district and extending various services towards the educational needs, health care, employment, basic amenities and sports activities of the tribal population.

In association with the 'Indian Pharmaceutical Association' (IPA), Nilgiris Local Branch and unit of NSS, the college regularly conducts health awareness camps, health screening camps, awareness rally, human chain, street shows for the benefit of general public at large and school children in and around Nilgiris district.

The college also regularly participates in the herbal plants exhibition organized by the Horticulture Department, Government of Tamil Nadu and has good association with the tribal medical practitioners and scientifically validates the traditional knowledge about herbal medicine.
