Pharmaceutical Chemistry

The Pharmaceutical Chemistry department of the JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysore commenced in 1983 emphasizes training in the basic and applied chemistry and analysis subjects. Students learn to apply fundamental concepts in these areas to many specialized areas of research in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The department is offering M Pharm and PhD programs in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Analysis; PG diploma in Computer Aided Drug design and Food and Drug Analysis. The Department also supports the Pharm D, B Pharm and D Pharm programs. Department has well equipped laboratories with modern research instrumentations and equipment, audio-visual aids and Wi-Fi facility.

Our research is focused into two strategic themes- Drug Discovery and analytical method development and validation for drugs. The Department has received financial assistance to the tune of 96 Lakhs as Research Grant from government funding agencies like AICTE, DBT, ICMR, DST to carry out research projects and a significant output of research is made available as publications in peer reviewed and high impact factor journals. The department also filed patents and working towards commercialisation. The department is equipped with computer aided drug design lab to facilitate in-Silco designing of drug candidates. NABL accredited Drug Testing Lab (DBT) is established by the dept to caters the needs of industries and intuition for drugs and pharmaceutical testing.
