Department of ENT Oto-Rhino-laryngology (ENT)
ENT is a surgical specialty which deals with diseases extending from dura to the pleura. The ENT department of JSS Hospital is dedicated to providing comprehensive medical care to patients who come with ear, nose or throat problems, including cancers of the head and neck region. The department was established in 1984, since then it has been working as a team towards treating the ailing and the sick. It is headed by Prof. Dr. Bhararthi M B who has more than thirty years of experience.
The department runs OPDs everyday and caters to the needs of people from not only Mysore, but also several nearby districts. The hospital provides good quality medical care at very affordable prices and is a boon for the thousands of poor people who come from far away areas where medical facilities are scarce. The ENT Department, living up to the motto of the hospital, has worked hard at providing the best treatment possible for all the ear, nose and throat problems. Be it the modern diagnostic aids or the latest surgical methods, we have always been up to date and this never ending quest for knowledge continues . Our department also participates actively in workshops, conferences and presentations.
The department has guided several PG students for master’s degree and continues to pass knowledge to the younger generation of doctors.The department has its own seminar hall, a library as well as advanced teaching aids like LCD projectors and access to internet. We are also constantly involved in research activities.
The interdepartmental collaboration with other departments such as General Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Neurology, Radiology, Pathology, Psychiatry, Oral and Maxillofacial surgery ,Speech and Hearing Department have been of great help in setting up various specialty clinics. We also assist in providing endoscopic endonasal corridor to skull and other neurosurgical procedures. We also do cochlear implant surgeries, trans sphenoidal hypophysectomy, csf leak repair surgeries which require high level expertise and high end equipments.
