JSS Medical College, Mysuru, was started in 1984-85 and is imparting education in medical sciences (MBBS) course. It is recognized by the Medical Council of India and was affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, Bangalore from 1995-1996. It has now become a constituent college of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research ( Formerly known as JSS University ) established under Section-3 of UGC Act from 28-05-2008.

JSS Medical College offers undergraduate course in medicine (M.B.B.S) with annual intake of 200 seats and postgraduate degree (M.D and M.S) in 22 different medical disciplines along with 4 super specialty courses, DM Medical Gastroenterology, DM Neurology, DM Nephrology and M.Ch. Urology. Additionally, the institute offers 13 BSc Biomedical science programmes and M.Sc. in 9 disciplines (Medical Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Clinical embryology, Clinical Psychology, Genetics & Genomics) and Masters in Public Health (MPH), M.Phil Psychiatry Social Work. Institution is offering Fellowship course in Pain Medicine, Psycho Sexual Medicine and Certificate course in Psycho Sexual Medicine. These courses are perfect blend of community oriented, problem based learning with high quality clinical reasoning. The college also provides PhD programmes in Medical and Biomedical Sciences to promote research and developmental activities.
Research
JSS Medical College with the support from JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research and Vision group of Science and Technology (Government of Karnataka) has established Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine and Centre for Clinical Research Excellence (CCRE), approved as a collegium of Clinical Development Services Agency (CDSA) to promote various research activity and clinical trials. Faculty have been successful in getting research grants sponsored from ICMR, DST, DBT, VGST (Government of India) Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research and other funding agencies. Several projects have been conducted in collaboration with International institutions like Latrobe University, Melbourne, Swedish Heart Lung Foundation, Swedish Karolinska Institutet. Institution has collaborations with various international premiere institutions like Mayo clinic of USA, Khon Khaen University of Thailand, Quinnipiac University, USA, National Institute of Health, UK, to conduct quality research and publication of international standards. Annually more than 530 scientific papers are published in high quality indexed journals. To promote research culture among undergraduate students, the institution has started student research cell through which the students are trained to get successful research grants and publish the scientific data. Faculty, postgraduate and undergraduate students also present their scientific works at the national and international academic programmes and have won many prizes.
Health Care
The JSS hospital is one of the India’s biggest hospital equipped with 1800 beds under one roof with latest technology and best medical practices. JSS hospital caters to the ever-increasing health care needs of Mysore and the surrounding population of five districts. The motto of the hospital is to uphold the value of human life and provide advanced care at affordable price to the indigent section of the society.
The hospital provides services in 37 specialties/super specialties and has 67 special clinics offering both inpatient and outpatient services. The new facility offers a wide range of diagnostic services round the clock in Hematology, Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, Cytology, Histopathology, Microbiology, Serology, Immunology, and Immunohistochemistry, and has high end imaging facilities. Facilities to carry out New born screening, Karyotyping and FISH is established in the department of Genetics.
JSS Hospital has been accredited by National Accreditation Board for Hospital and Health Care providers in March 2019. JSS Hospital laboratory services are accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories in the year 2021.
