Purpose

The IEC conducts an independent ethical review of all research involving human participants, including dissertations, faculty projects and student synopses. Our role is to ensure scientific validity and ethical integrity in keeping with JSSAHER’s institutional values

Regulatory Compliance

The IEC adheres to national and international ethical frameworks.

  • New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rules, 2019 (NDCTR) and Drugs & Cosmetics Rules, 1945 (Rule 122DD)
  • ICMR National Ethical Guidelines (2017 and subsequent updates)
  • Indian Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Guidelines
    These frameworks ensure the protection of participants’ rights, informed consent procedures, adverse event reporting, ongoing oversight, and unbiased review processes.

  • To encourage innovative, fundable research with the potential for societal impact and patent development.

Committee Composition

The IEC comprises a Chairperson, a Member Secretary, and eight expert members, including representatives from diverse disciplines such as clinicians, pharmacology, biostatistics, public health, social science, legal affairs, and lay members from the community. Several members are not affiliated with the JSSAHER to ensure an independent and objective review.

The JSSDCH IEC is a cornerstone of JSSAHER's mission to integrate ethical integrity and academic excellence. We extend an open invitation to all faculty, students, and researchers to uphold ethical scholarship and scientific rigor in all studies.
