Welcome to Institutional Ethics Committee

  • The purpose of the Institutional Ethics Committee is to protect human subjects through ensuring highest ethical standards and conduct in all research carried out under the auspices of JSSAHER.
  • The JSS Dental College & Hospital Institutional Ethics Committee has renewed the registration under the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), Directorate of General Health Services, Directorate Drugs Controller (India). Registration No: ECR/1170/Inst/KA/2019/RR-22 was issued by CDSCO under Rule 122DD of the Drugs & Cosmetics Rules,1945.
  • The JSSDCH IEC has also been registered with the registration of the Ethics Committee relating to Biomedical and Health Research with the National Ethics Committee Registry for Biomedical and Health Research (NECRBHR), Department of Health Research (DHR), Certificate vide No: NECRBHR: DHR Reg No: EC/NEW/INST/2022/2764.
  • The JSS Dental College & Hospital Institutional Ethics Committee constituted by the JSS Dental College & Hospital to review the dissertation, research projects, and short studies synopsis of the faculty and students.
  • The IEC is headed by a Chairperson and supported by 8 other members including the Member Secretary. The composition of the IEC is a mix of members from different disciplines non-affiliated to JSSAHER, including public health specialists, eminent medical doctors/clinicians, pharmacologist, biostatisticians, social scientist, legal expert, and the lay person.
  • Guided by the recommendations of the ICMR and New Drugs and Clinical Trials (Amendment) Rules 2022, the JSSDCH IEC endeavors to protect and promote the dignity, rights and wellbeing of potential research participants; ensure that universal ethical values and international scientific standards are adhered to and contextualized to suit the local context.

Objectives

The main objectives of the JSS Dental College & Hospital Institutional Ethics Committee are to:

  • To educate and guide the researcher to design and execute quality research projects by ensuring to follow the principles of bioethics.
  • To digitalize the functioning of JSSDCH IEC to simplify and expedite the review process of the Institutional Ethics Committee.
  • To update the faculty & students doing research to understand the current principles and guidelines in the field of Biomedical research by conducting workshops and webinars.
  • To promote the researcher to undertake funded research projects and develop patent ideas.
