Department of Biochemistry and the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CEMR) lab

The Department of Biochemistry was established in the year 1984. The department was sponsored by DST-FIST and the Vision Group on Science & Technology (VGST), Govt. of Karnataka. Department has contributed significantly to the biochemistry education of medical and non-medical students, promoted research culture, and has been providing quality diagnostic services.

Since its inception in the year 2012, the CEMR laboratory at JSS Medical College has made significant contributions in the field of biomedical research, promoting student and teacher training in basic- and clinical research, producing high-quality researchers, and publishing research, and review articles. Currently, the CEMR is supported by the JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research and the funds received in part by Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST), the Government of Karnataka, and the Department of Science and Technology - Fund for Improvement of Science and Technology Infrastructure (DST-FIST) program. The staff of CEMR has received many research grants and published papers in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
