Pharmacological services
Department has a well-established preclinical facility for screening of NMEs /herbals and has validated several animal models for the same.
- Anxiety models (elevated plus maze)
- Cerebral stroke (middle cerebral artery occlusion, 2/4 vessels occlusion)
- Depression (Chemical and behavioural models)
- Diabetes (alloxan, streptozotocin, high calorie / diet model)
- Epilepsy (pentylenetetrazole, picrotoxin, strychnine etc)
- Gastric ulcer (Shay model, acetic acid/ ethanol induced, drugs induced)
- Hepatic diseases (Paracetamol, anti-TB drugs, CCl4)
- Huntington’s disease (3-nitropropionic acid)
- Hyperlipidemia and obesity (triton WR 1339, high fat diet model)
- Inflammatory models (carrageenan, cotton pellet granuloma, etc )
- Myocardial infarction (isoproterenol model)

Our institution is approved (license no: 155/PO/Re/S/1999/CPCSEA) by Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experimentation on Animals (CPCSEA), Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, to conduct experiments on animals (rodents, guinea pigs, rabbits)
