Department of Anatomy
Department is mainly involved in teaching and research. We inculcate in our students a sense of wonder at the beauty of the human body and values of respect for the cadaver.
The Department of Anatomy sprouted under the leadership of Dr.Jayavelu during inception of JSS Medical College in the year 1984.Then only MBBS course was offered. With the growth of the institution and university the department has expanded to impart undergraduate & postgraduate medical training and other courses such as BDS, MDS, B.Sc.AHS, M.Sc. , B.Sc & MSc Nursing, BPT, MPT, BSc & MSc speech & Hearing, MTech, PhD.
As a department, we espouse the institution`s vision & mission and so the quest for excellence at teaching, service and research.
Department is mainly involved in teaching and research. We inculcate in our students a sense of wonder at the beauty of the human body and values of respect for the cadaver. We also extend our Anatomy museum service to public as well as school & college students to educate and create awareness. As a service to the public, embalming for transportation of dead bodies is also undertaken.
The department is also an active collaborator and organiser for various cadaveric workshops for post-graduate training and skills training in surgical and allied disciplines.
Encourage the students by "Mannar Krishna gold medal" award for MBBS students who score highest marks in Anatomy in the university examination.
