The Department of Periodontology, JSS Dental College & Hospital, Mysuru, a constituent college of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), organized a seminar on “Dentistry and Law” on 08 June 2026. The resource person for the program was Dr. Sachin Shivanaikar, who possesses a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Law and Ethics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Consumer Law and Practice

The seminar was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Dakshaini M. R. and Dr. Suman Basavaraju

During the session, Dr. Sachin Shivanaikar delivered an insightful lecture emphasizing the growing importance of legal awareness in contemporary dental practice. The presentation covered key aspects of professional ethics, informed consent, maintenance of dental records, medico-legal responsibilities, consumer protection laws, negligence, and effective patient communication. Through real-life case studies and practical examples, the speaker highlighted the importance of adhering to ethical and legal standards to ensure quality patient care while minimizing medico-legal risks

The program was coordinated by Dr. Aruna, Reader, Department of Periodontology, with the support of Dr. Anitha (Reader), Dr. Radhika (Lecturer), Dr. Srinivas (Lecturer), and other faculty members of the department. Their collective efforts ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the event
