
The JSSDCH Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) has consistently undertaken activities aimed at strengthening research ethics, regulatory compliance, and capacity building among researchers and faculty members. Through active participation in workshops and conferences, the committee continues to promote ethical standards and best practices in biomedical and clinical research
1. Good Clinical Practice (GCP), NDCT, and Critical Thinking Workshop – August 2025. The Chairman and Members of the JSSDCH Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) participated as guest speakers and attendees in the workshop on “Good Clinical Practice (GCP), NDCT and Critical Thinking” organized by the Centre for Clinical Research Excellence (CCRE), JSSAHER, Mysuru, on 5 August 2025 at JSS Medical College, Mysuru. The workshop focused on Good Clinical Practice guidelines, New Drugs and Clinical Trials (NDCT) regulations, research ethics, and critical thinking in clinical research. The programme enhanced participants’ understanding of ethical and regulatory requirements, encouraged responsible research conduct, and reinforced the importance of maintaining high standards in clinical research. 2.Participation in the 10th National Bioethics Conference (NBC 2025)
Dr. Shivananda S., Member Secretary of the JSSDCH Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC), participated in the 10th National Bioethics Conference (NBC 2025) on the theme “Artificial Intelligence in Health Care: Ethics, Law and Human Rights Matters.” The conference provided a valuable platform for discussing the ethical, legal, and human rights implications of artificial intelligence in healthcare and research. Participation in the conference enhanced awareness of emerging bioethical challenges, including data privacy, patient autonomy, accountability, and responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies. The knowledge gained further strengthened the committee’s capacity to address contemporary ethical issues in research and healthcare
3.Good Clinical Practice (GCP), NDCT and Critical Thinking Workshop – October 2023
The Chairman and Members of the JSSDCH Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) served as guest speakers and participants in the workshop on “Good Clinical Practice (GCP), NDCT and Critical Thinking” organized by the Centre for Clinical Research Excellence (CCRE), JSSAHER, Mysuru, on 12 October 2023. The programme emphasized Good Clinical Practice principles, NDCT regulations, research ethics, participant safety, and ethical review procedures. It provided an opportunity for knowledge exchange and professional development while strengthening the competencies of researchers and ethics committee members in conducting and overseeing ethical clinical research.
