The IPR Cell and Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of JSS Dental College & Hospital successfully organized an IPR Awareness Event on 21st May 2026 in observance of World Intellectual Property Day, under the theme “Benchside to Bedside.” The event aimed to highlight the journey of innovative laboratory research towards practical healthcare applications and foster awareness about intellectual property rights among students and faculty. A total of 121 students and 10 faculty members participated in the program. The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Prashanth Vishwanath, Dean Research, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, and Dr. Dhakshaini M. R., Principal, JSS Dental College & Hospital, Mysuru. The dignitaries emphasized the importance of innovation, intellectual property protection, and the commercialization of research outcomes in advancing healthcare. The technical sessions were delivered by Dr. Phandareesh M. and Dr. Asha Srinivasan, who provided valuable insights into translational research, medical device regulations, and intellectual property rights. The sessions facilitated engaging discussions on patents, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and start-up incubation, encouraging participants to explore avenues for innovation and research translation. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to participants and an appreciation of the institution’s sustained commitment to nurturing innovation, research excellence, and intellectual property awareness among healthcare professionals and students.
