About SIG

Laser dentistry help in rendering a quality dental practice, and a specially trained group of doctors who can deliver the best treatment.it also helps in bringing the awareness among practitioners

The SIG will help in

  • Creating an awareness on laser dentistry through webinars and workshops.
  • An opportunity for interaction & collaboration with interprofessional experts.
  • The SIG will focus on providing an opportunity for exchange of ideas among the faculty of JSSAHER with the external members
  • It provides opportunities for interaction & collaboration with peers and work on projects.
  • The SIG will work in collaboration with external member to develop a laser assisted dental clinic and offer certificate course.
  • SIG will also help in new research projects and grants

Background/Context

  • With the advancements and emerging trends in dentistry, pain less and bloodless procedures are being popular, Laser dentistry treats several different dental conditions. It potentially offers a more comfortable treatment option for several dental procedures involving hard or soft tissue, compared to drills and other non-laser tools, Lasers can make dental treatments more efficient, cost effective, and comfortable as it
  • Cause less pain, hence reduces the need for anaesthesia
  • May reduce anxiety in patients uncomfortable with the use of the dental drill
  • Minimize bleeding and swelling during soft tissue treatments
  • Preserve healthier tooth during cavity removal
  • Improves the tooth whitening at faster rate

Mission

To promote excellence in education & practice of laser dentistry at JSS dental college and Hospital, to promote the quality treatment rendered and to impart value added education for our dental students by offering a certificate course, webinars, and workshops. Collaborate with the external faculty and establish a research lab on photo bio-modulation

Vision

Create an interest, awareness and provide knowledge to educate the dental faculty and students on importance of lasers in different field of dentistry

GOAL

Purpose of the project is to educate and create awareness amongst the dental surgeons on uses and safety of LASERS in dental practice.

OBJECTIVES

Sensitize dental surgeons on innovative tool on modern dental practise
Collaborate a research lab on photo bio-modulation
Offer a certificate course on laser dentistry
Provide a thorough expertise and Perception on lasers in dentistry.
Establish an exclusive laser dental clinic

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF TEAM MEMBERS

  • Build interdependent relationships with other professions to improve patient care and advance learning, thus engaging in continuous professional and interprofessional development to enhance team performance.
  • Provide support for designing and implementing interprofessional approach towards lasers in dental care
  • A vision to develop and provide a certificate course on emerging trends in lasers dentistry
  • Prepare and conduct the Professional continuing education courses and workshops on laser dentistry
  • Establish Research opportunities

PROPOSED WORK PLAN

  • Association with Asian Academy of Laser Therapy
  • Offering the certificate course for the postgraduates, under graduates and the general dentist
  • Establishing the Laser Assisted clinic
  • Encouraging postgraduates and faculties to work on Research projects
  • Establishing the Lab for Photobio Modulation
  • Research grants
  • Association with cancer hospitals
