Overview

Soft tissue lasers are gaining popularity as treatment option in various dental procedures. Bloodless and painless procedures of lasers make it an attractive treatment protocol for patients. Therefore, extensive knowledge about the laser technology as well as application has become a necessity for undergraduate and post graduate students. The scope of this soft tissue laser course includes a wide variety of treatments to different clinical conditions such as vestibuloplasty, frenectomy, LANAP, crown lengthening, excisions, biostimulation, hypersensitivity. Hence this program is designed to bring out students with competent skills in the use of soft tissue lasers.

    Goals
  • This course is designed for interns to enhance knowledge & skills to use diode lasers. To plan and treat dental pathologies using diode lasers, where applicable & to carry out various periodontal surgical procedures using diode lasers.
  • The course provides thorough theoretical knowledge of basic physics and laser production, and its clinical application in various dental pathologies.
  • This comprehensive curriculum discusses use of diode laser as an alternative to conventional surgical procedures while avoiding the limitations of the same.
  • It also imparts knowledge on the selection of oral lasers for treatment of dental pathologies.
  • It is a painless and bloodless alternative to conventional techniques

    Objectives:
  • Understanding laser physics & production, laser safety
  • Understanding the diode machine
  • Understanding limitations & Complications of diode lasers
  • Pre-clinical hands-on on simulation models
  • Video/Live demonstrations
  • Hands on of the above

Clinical applications of lasers:

  • Case selection-indications & contraindications for diode lasers
  • Understand various periodontal surgical procedures-frenectomy, frenotomy, crown lengthening, excision, PDT
  • Endodontic application
  • Mucosal lesions
  • Bleaching
