JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Faculty of Life Science offers an innovative graduate degree program that prepares students for success in the field of bioinformatics. Bioinformatics is an extremely active, interdisciplinary field of research. The study of PG course of bioinformatics includes the areas of development of new computational methods for studying organization and evolution of genes and genomes, computational approaches to macromolecular structure, dynamics and simulation, comparative evolutionary genomics, drug design and discovery, pharmacogenomics, algorithm development, data base development, sequence analysis, data mining, prediction and analysis of structure etc. Students will learn the fundamentals of bioinformatics, which include sequence analysis, protein and RNA structural analysis, genomics, phylogenetics, analysis of high-throughput data, machine learning methods, etc. As a student at the M.Sc. programme in Bioinformatics they learn to solve biological problems by combining mathematical and statistical calculation methods with computer science.
Unique features of the course includes core papers of
Less than 60% of practical sessions and hands-on training, The course also includes a six-month research project in IV semester, students are trained for higher education, research and work opportunities, ICT & Video Conferencing enabled teaching facility, 24x7 lab facility for all the students, Uninterrupted power back up for systems, Wi-Fi facility for mobile devices is enabled for the student, Centre will assist for the Industrial Placement and career, Centralized Air Conditioning for labs.
