Overview
JSS Dental College & Hospital is located in an area of 43 acres of land at mysore city which is about 140 km from bangalore. Mysuru city is known for clean city, palaces, brindavan garden and excellent climate. It is also an hub for education. Mysuru city is well connected by road, rail as well as by air.
College was established in the year of 1986, has experinced taching faculty for both medical and dental courses. Dental college was afiliated to university of mysore then to rajiv gandhi health university till 2008. Now it is a constituent college of jss academy of higher education & research (earlier it was jss university) it is recongnised by dental council of india new delhi.
Our esteemed university is ranked in band 2001-300 by the impact ranking qs I-guage rated 5 star and it is naac a+ accredidated. Dental college is ranked 10th in nirf and iso certified
Hospital Facility
JSS Dental College & Hospital has 1.80 lakhs of sq ft built area with each department spread out in 1500 sq ft area. 362dental units are available for providing a oral care in the various speciality departments.
There is a separate operation theater with two ot tables and latest accessories. Basic medical sciences are available in the separate lock within the campus. Medicine and surgergy training is attached with jss hospital which is nabh accreditated and situated at 7 kms from the campus. Pre-clinical departments are well equipped with phantom head which can cater 100 plus students. Clinical departments are very well equipped with latest instruments for training purpose.
Library Information
Library is located at the basement is spread over 30000 sqft it has a good collection of books (national & international) around 9400 plus. There are around 108 journals subsbribed both international & national. Library has three database which can access more than 400 journals and text books. Library is also wifi enabled.

MDS Post Graduate course is of 3 years duration. Candidates should satisfy the eligibility requirement as per the NEET PG Information Brochure, Medical Council Committee of DGHS and the minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed by the Dental Council of India

My primary objective is to practice an interdisciplinary, team approach to oral and dental care and thence to effectively function within the composite healthcare delivery system. This, I intend to achieve by developing and encouraging lifelong learning and academic excellence through continual professional education.
Dr Karthikeya Patil, Professor and Head of the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, is one of the prominent faculties at JSS Dental College & Hospital. He was awarded master’s degree in Oral Medicine & Radiology in 1996 and possesses vast experience of more than two decades, both in clinical and academic expertise. He is specifically interested in Temporomandibular Joint Disorders, their diagnosis and effective management and Dental diagnostic imaging.
He has successfully guided Postgraduate students for the last 15 years.
His academic excellence reveals more than hundred publications to his credit in peer reviewed reputed indexed journals and contribution to many of the oral medicine and radiology reference textbooks. His interest in research is well portrayed by his scientific papers. Many of his papers at national and international conferences have fetched the best paper awards. Good number of national and international journals in both the fields of Oral Medicine and Radiology have recognized his work and received his services as reviewer and guest editor. He is the recipient of the award for maximum number of publications in peer reviewed journals in the faculty of dentistry at JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research.
He has undertaken many research projects and is presently working on Early detection of Oral cancer and Oral potentially malignant disorders in collaboration with the University of Malaya, Malaysia and Sascan Meditech Private Limited, India.
Currently he is the member of Academic council and UG Board of studies in Dentistry at the JSS AHER. He is also Life member of prestigious bodies like Indian Dental Association and Indian Academy of Oral Medicine & Radiology and has held responsible positions within.
