Master of Pharmacy in Pharmacy Practice program aims at training the Pharmacy graduate to work near the bed side at the hospital and provide pharmacy/pharmaceutical care services to the needy patients at different practice settings. The training includes the posting of students at various medical units to understand the management of patients and monitoring the outcome of the therapy. The course also covers the understanding of the Pathophysiology, Pharmacotherapy, Clinical & Hospital Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacokinetics etc., to provide an opportunity for the student to understand the patient management and outcome measures. Further, the student will be encouraged to be actively involved in developing interprofessional skills and also train them in utilizing the various resources for educating the patients and health care professionals.

Medical Writing : Medical writing consists of communicating the medical as well as scientific data. Medical writers have various roles and responsibilities. Some of these include assessing and writing clinical study reports for the professional community.
Community Pharmacy : he Community pharmacy or retail pharmacy is the best option for pharmacy candidates. After getting registered by the State Pharmacy Councils constituted by the state governments, one can start working as a retail or community pharmacist after completing the required formalities.

Dr Sivasankaran PONNUSANKAR is presently working as Professor and Head at Dept. of Pharmacy Practice, JSS CoP, Ooty and involved in developing the clinical pharmacy education and concept in India. He received his clinical pharmacy training at Repatriation General Hospital, Daw Park, Adelaide, South Australia. His area of research interest is community pharmacy practice research and social pharmacy; herb-drug interaction studies; pharmaceutical care and its outcome. He has published several research articles (International: 22; National: 53) in his area of research and contributed two book chapters. He is member of various professional national and international organizations. He is currently involved in developing model simulation lab for the training of Pharm D students.
