Bachelor of Pharmacy is a four years program that prepares students for career in pharmaceutical industry and research. The candidates having Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm.) qualification may join in the second year of B. Pharm. as a lateral entry. The students are exposed and trained in synthetic and natural chemistry and drugs, formulation development, quality control of drugs and formulations, screening of substances for pharmacological activities, and to a little extent in the pharmaceutical care process. The students also undergo focused training in the ‘Practice School’ being held at the college and ‘Industrial Training’ at an identified pharmaceutical industry for a specified period of time.
First year B. Pharm : Candidate shall have passed 10+2 examination conducted by the respective state/central government authorities recognized as equivalent to 10+2 examination by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (P.C.M) and or Biology (P.C.B / P.C.M.B.) as optional subjects individually. Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examinations.
B. Pharm lateral entry (to third semester) : A pass in D. Pharm. course from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.

Community Pharmacy : : With the growing availability of pre-packaged doses, the pharmacist monitors the drug sale on the basis of prescriptions and dosages, and gives over the counter advice on how to use prescribed drugs .

Dr.S.Jubie, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty where she has been a faculty member since June 2007. She earned B.Pharm in SB College of Pharmacy (1999), M.Pharm in KM College of Pharmacy (2002) and PhD (2014) from JSS Academy of Higher Education &Research, Mysuru. Her experience includes both teaching and research, is 20 years. Her research areas of interest are discovery of novel chemical entities for cancer therapy through various in-silico tools and drug/scaffold repurposing. In recent years she has actively involved in the isolation of fatty acids and semi-synthesis of novel bioactive molecules for cancer therapy. She was the best outgoing student during her M.Pharm (2000-2002). As a part of citizenship activities of the institution and the university , she was a member of NAAC and ACPE preparatory team and member in NBA &NIRF. She has published 58 International papers, 29 national papers in indexed journals with a cumulative impact factor of 74.48 in the range of 0.4-6.5. Her total citations are 785 with H-index of 15 (Scopus) and 11 (Web of science). She has three Indian patents awarded and published three Indian patents. She has published three books, two book chapters. She has also completed two research grants sponsored by DST, India as a co-investigator and carrying out four research grants sponsored by AICTE, India and JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru. She has also received travel grants from DST & ICMR India. She has attended 13 international, 22 national conferences as a delegate. She has been invited as a resource person for 2 international and 17 national conferences. She has guided 3 PhD students & 20 M.Pharm Students and guiding 4 PhD students. She is a life member of various professional bodies such as IPA, APTI, APP, SBTI and IFERP. Her biography has been included in Famous India; Nation’s Who’s who. She is a recipient of Young Researcher Award-2019 & Young performer of the year-2020 from Association of Pharmacy Professionals, India. |
