This is one year certificate programme offered by the Department of Pharmacology, JSS College of Pharmacy, JSS University, Mysuru in association with GLP standard organisations and experts. Program trains the graduates with a thorough knowledge on theoretical aspects of toxicological science and the principles of Good Laboratory Practice. The key focus of the program is to develop skilled manpower in planning, performing, recording, data management of safety studies and as well as role of toxicology discipline in health care. Dr Babu completed his BPharm and MPharm degrees at JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, and received PhD in 2008. He worked to investigate the role of glutamate and calcium signalling in cerebral stroke in Prof Ramanathan`s Neuropharmacology Laboratory for his PhD research. He joined Sri Ramachandra University (SRU), Chennai, as Research Officer and after an eight years spell at SRU, Chennai, working on regulatory toxicology and neuroscience, he joined the Department of Pharmacology, at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysore, April, 2016. His research work focuses on the new drug targets and mechanisms of small molecules in Parkinson`s, Alzheimer`s diseases and sleep hygeine. Dr Babu's group is current working to understand how renin-angiotensin system modulates specific neurons and neural circuits and contribute to cognitive corrections in Parkinson`s, Alzheimer`s diseases and sleep restriction.
