Pharmaceutics is the discipline of pharmacy that deals with multiple facts of drug delivery. It involves the design, development, and evaluation of drugs in combination with an appropriate dosage form. An understanding of pharmaceutics allows scientists to convert a potential drug into an effective medicine that can be administered to patients in a safe and convenient manner. The Department of Pharmaceutics offers courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels and facilitates student-centric learning in the areas of dosage form design, cosmetics, pharmacokinetics, regulatory sciences, quality assurance and varied industrial perspectives. The faculty maintains a robust research program supported by funding agencies, foundations, and private industries. Academic and research excellence is achieved by adopting contemporary educational practices and hitting thrust areas in drug delivery science to meet the current requirements of pharmaceutical industries, academics, and regulatory bodies.

Graduates choosing an industrial position become involved in product development research and apply their scientific background to the solution of practical, challenging problems. Others select positions oriented more toward basic research or at the drug discovery/development interface. Many pharmaceutics researchers in industry choose a scientific career ladder, while others transfer to administrative career tracks. As the nature of Pharmaceutics research becomes more sophisticated, those researchers with strong scientific backgrounds compete more effectively for management positions. The increasing number of pharmaceutics trained individuals now entering the upper levels of management will have an increasingly significant impact on the direction of health related research programs in the future.
Typical Pharmaceutics Career Progression Options: Graduates of this programme can gain employment as Formulation scientist, Project Lead, Manufacturing/Production executive, Quality Manager, Packaging executive, Head of the Department, Director, Plant Head.
