Dr. Chandan. S., working as Assistant Professor for the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Faculty of Life Sciences, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research. He has been working for the past Seven and half years, he has cleared the UGC-SLET examination in Life Sciences. His research interest is Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Bioinformatics, and Virology. He obtained Doctor of Philosophy in Biotechnology, wherein he worked on the diagnosis of Leptospirosis. In brief about the achievements, he worked in ICAR - National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics as a postgraduate research assistant under All India Network Project (AINP) for two and half years and worked as a UGC-Project Fellow and ICMR-Senior Research Fellow for three years in the year 2010 to 2013. During the doctoral studies, he worked in the Molecular diagnostics of Leptospira and its management. He was exposed to various molecular techniques. The thesis objectives have been published in reputed journals. Recently, received the Young Scientist award in the scheme of the Young Scientist Scheme (YSS) from DST-SERB and as well, best poster awards at national conferences and seminars. As Genomics, Proteomics, and Bioinformatics has the area of research Interest, he would like to work for and guide the younger students in the same field to develop a band of future researchers.
Strive to make a difference in people's lives.

Saravanan is a Bioinformatician with a passion for teaching and research.
Saravanan has 15 years of research experience. As a researcher, my focal point is to integrate computer-aided approaches in understanding the molecular fundamentals of nature. My core research interests are sequence-structure-dynamics-function relationships of protein, drug discovery & design and interdisciplinary research. Being fascinated by computational applications to biological problems, I pursued PhD in Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati and the dissertation titled Bioinformatics approach to understand and exploit the potential of lipases. Saravanan secured UGC Dr D. S. Kothari postdoctoral fellowship and served as Postdoctoral Fellow for 4.5 years in the Republic of Korea (Gyeongsang National University & Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology). My postdoctoral research is to design inhibitors against drug targets for obesity & fatty liver disease and improve the fundamental understanding of partial-miscibility using MD simulations & graph theory. I have extensive experience in computer-aided drug discovery, protein modelling, molecular docking, virtual screening, and molecular dynamics simulations with proficiency in file parsing using Python, Perl and Linux scripting.
Saravanan has worked as a Teaching-Research Fellow to teach M.Sc. Bioinformatics at the University of Madras. My core value of teaching is to foster curiosity and critical thinking.
Faculties, Researchers, Students and the general public interested in research are always welcome for discussion.
