Dr. Siddesha J. M. is a researcher and academician specializing in molecular and cellular physiology, cardiovascular biology, and translational biomedical research. With over 14 years of experience across academia, research, and industry, he contributes to advancing both cutting-edge science and research-driven education.
An alumnus of the University of Mysore, he earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Biochemistry and completed prestigious postdoctoral training at Tulane University School of Medicine and the University of Vermont, USA. His international research exposure informs a strong interdisciplinary approach to understanding complex human diseases.
His research focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis, integrating cell signaling, inflammation biology, antihypertensive peptides, and nutraceuticals to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for cardiovascular and lifestyle-related disorders. His work bridges basic science and translational applications, addressing globally relevant health challenges.
Dr. Siddesha has secured competitive funding as Principal Investigator from DST-SERB and UGC (India) and serves as Co-Investigator in major national research programs including DBT BUILDER and DST PURSE, contributing to advanced research infrastructure and collaborative innovation at JSS AHER. In recognition of his impactful contributions, he was awarded the Research Excellence Award (2025).
He has an established publication record with 25+ peer-reviewed research articles, along with review papers and book chapters, an h-index of 17, and 800+ citations, reflecting the quality and impact of his research.
A committed mentor and academic leader, Dr. Siddesha has successfully guided three Ph.D. scholars and is currently supervising five doctoral candidates, in addition to mentoring over 100 postgraduate dissertations. He actively contributes to curriculum design, research training, and academic leadership, fostering a vibrant, research-oriented learning environment.
