B.Sc. Honours in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics (NEP) is four years degree course, integrated with multifaceted areas. It is a vital and growing professional degree with ample career opportunities. The programme provides in-depth study and comprehensive practical as well as professional knowledge of immense value in view of global acceptance. The programme is designed to strengthen and enhance a student's understanding and knowledge on diverse subjects. Covers the knowledge towards nutrient composition and relationship between food, nutrition and dietetics to achieve nutrition and health security for individual and at the community level. Imparts the analytical skills, enhances the observational capabilities, helps in inculcating logical thinking and expression related to nutrition sciences. Develop entrepreneurial skill through value and activity-based courses to increase employability. Students able to acquire the knowledge related with physiological and biochemical aspects to understand the metabolism of various macro and micro nutrients. Students are also familiarize with food microbiology and packaging related aspects. The internship/training program with various hospitals and food industries provide opportunities to practice and master the core competencies to place its students in covetable jobs. Classes will be conducted through blended learning approaches that includes classical classroom teaching, self-study, experiential learning, seminars, presentations, field visits etc. As professional program prepares the students to work as Public Health Expert and provides vibrant scope in clinical as well as industrial setting.
Upon successful completion of the undergraduate degree (basic/hons) in Food Nutrition & Dietetics, students will be well equipped with necessary skills to serve various hospital dietary services, food and nutraceutical, wellness centers, hold position in various nutrition program run by Government of India or pursue higher studies leading to research in areas pertaining to clinical nutrition, molecular nutrition, community nutrition, sports nutrition etc. Students can also aspire for entrepreneurial ventures through start-ups leading to establishment of their own ventures. The program promotes personal scholarship and academic growth, lifelong learning skills, and mastery of core knowledge in nutrition and life sciences.
