Seminar on “The Impact of Human Genomics in Current Medical Practice” Special Interest Group on Human Genomics and Rare Disorders, JSS Medical College, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSSAHER) in association with ‘Indo-UK Genomic Education forum’ of the Genomic Medicine Foundation (UK) has organized one day seminar on “The Impact of Human Genomics in Current Medical Practice” on Thursday 31st October 2019 at Sri Rajendra Centenary Auditorium, JSS Hospital, Mysuru

The event was inaugurated by Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa, Vice Chancellor, JSSAHER and Principal, JSS Medical College. The other guests present during the occasion were Dr. P.A. Kushalappa, Director (Academics), JSSAHER and Dr. (Col) M. Dayananda, Director, JSS Hospital, Dr. Guruswamy, Medical Superintendent, JSS Hospital, Dr. G.V. Manjunath and Dr. M.N. Suma, Vice Principals of JSS Medical College. The dignitaries released the seminar souvenir and also the brochure for the maternal serum screening for chromosomal abnormalities which has been recently initiated at JSS Hospital.

The current and future practice of clinical medicine aims for evidence based precision and personalized medicine. The rapid expansion of genomic medicine is the promising key to the development of precision and personalized medicine. The one- day seminar aimed at general and specialist medical practitioners to enhance their skills and knowledge to bring about changes in their current clinical practice.

Eminent speakers from reputed institutes like Dr. Meenakshi Bhat, Centre for Human Genetics; Dr. Sumita Danda, CMC Vellore; Dr. Anju Shukla, KMC Manipal; Dr. Govindasamy Kumaramanickavel, Narayana Nethralaya; Dr. Radha Venkatesan, Diabetes Research Foundation; Dr. Deepa Bhat, JSS Hospital and Prof. Dhavendra Kumar, William Harvey Research Institute, UK participated in the event

More than 250 participants from different genetic laboratory, research institute, staff, research scholars and students from medical, dental and life science colleges participated in the seminar.
