The world’s most complex health challenges cannot be addressed in isolation. They demand collaboration, shared learning and collective action across human, animal and environmental health. On 21 September 2026, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, hosted the One Health Peer Training Session under the One Health Network of India (OHNI) – India One Health School Program 2026 in collaboration with School of Public Health, JSS Medical College and Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, JSS Dental College, JSS AHER at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. The central message was clear: Human, animal and environmental health are deeply interconnected. Addressing one without considering the others leaves critical gaps in our response to emerging health challenges. Through interactive learning, peer discussions and a thought-provoking panel discussion, students explored: - Zoonotic diseases and emerging infections -Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) -Climate change and environmental health -Food safety -Interdisciplinary collaboration -Preparedness for emerging health threats Students from medicine, dentistry, public health, veterinary sciences, environmental sciences, agriculture and social sciences came together to exchange perspectives and explore how One Health principles can translate into action. We were honoured by the presence of Dr Tongkorn Meeyam (SEAOHUN), Dr Manjunatha B (Registrar, JSS AHER), Dr Sandul Yasobant (IIPHG & Lead, OHNI), Dr Dhakshaini M R (Principal, JSS Dental College), Dr Anil Bilimale and Dr B. Nandlal JSSDCH, alongside faculty, trainers and participants. A special highlight was strengthening the role of the One Health Ambassadors – Dr Prashanth F Kamadolli, Dr. Yashi Rastogi, Dr. Govind S. S. as peer educators who will carry these conversations forward. This collaborative initiative brought together JSS AHER, IIPHG, OHNI and COHERD, with support from SEAOHUN and Chevron. One Health is more than an approach; it is a commitment to collaboration across disciplines, institutions and communities.
