World Heart Day - 05-10-2026

JSS Hospital, Mysuru, observed World Heart Day 2026 with an awareness programme held at the Main Lobby of the hospital on October 5, 2026. The programme was organised by the Department of Cardiology, JSS Medical College and Hospital, JSS AHER, Mysuru, in association with JSS College of Nursing, Mysuru. The programme highlighted the importance of cardiovascular health and encouraged people to adopt healthy lifestyle practices undergo regular health check-ups and seek timely medical attention for heart-related symptoms. The theme of the programme, “Don’t Miss a Beat,” emphasised the importance of early detection and prevention of heart disease. Dr. H. Basavana Gowdappa, Vice-Chancellor, JSS AHER, was the Chief Guest. Dr.C.P.Madhu, Director, JSS Hospital, Mysuru, presided over the programme. Sri. R.Mahesh, Director, Medical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, and Dr.D.Narayanappa, Principal, JSS Medical College, Mysuru, were the Guests of Honour. Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries stressed the growing burden of cardiovascular diseases and the need for preventive healthcare. They highlighted the importance of maintaining a balanced diet, regular physical activity, avoiding tobacco and harmful alcohol use, managing stress, and keeping conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol under control. Students of JSS College of Nursing , Mysuru & Students of M.Sc. Echo & Cardiography ( Dept of Cardiology ) performed skit to create awareness about heart problems , also poster presentation was organised along with some games for the participants. Faculty from JSS Nursing college informed the importance of CPR to the assembled crowd. The programme also served as an opportunity to create greater awareness about the importance of recognising warning signs of heart disease and seeking immediate medical care when required. The event witnessed the participation of doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals, students and members of the public. The programme concluded with a renewed commitment towards promoting healthy hearts and brighter futures through awareness, prevention and timely medical intervention. JSS Hospital, Mysuru continues its commitment to providing comprehensive cardiac care and promoting community awareness about cardiovascular health.
