The School of Public Health, JSS Medical College, JSS AHER, Mysuru, organised an engaging orientation session on the Indian Healthcare System for the newly joined Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) and Master of Public Health (MPH) students on 29 September 2026. The session was delivered by Dr Anil S. Bilimale, Chief Coordinator and Associate Professor, School of Public Health, who introduced students to the structure, organisation and functioning of India’s healthcare system. Key areas covered included: • Structure and organisation of the Indian healthcare system • Different levels of healthcare delivery and referral pathways • Public and private healthcare sectors • National health programmes and key health institutions • The evolving role of public health professionals in strengthening health systems The session provided students with a strong foundation for understanding how healthcare is organised and delivered in India, while highlighting the important role they can play as future public health professionals. Building knowledge today to strengthen India’s health systems tomorrow.
