Guest Lecture delivered by Dr.Chandrakanth, Professor of Forensic Medicine

Dr. H. V. Chandrakanth, Professor, Department of Forensic Medicine, JSS Medical College, Mysuru, was invited as the Guest Speaker by the Department of Biotechnology & Genetics, M. S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science & Commerce (Autonomous), Bengaluru, to deliver the inaugural lecture for the three-day Value Added Program (VAP) titled 'Hands-on Training: Bridging Medical and Forensic Science', conducted from 13th to 15th July 2026. The Value Added Program was organized to provide undergraduate students with practical exposure to forensic medicine and science by integrating theoretical concepts with hands-on learning. The sessions were conducted at the Kuvempu Seminar Hall and the B.Sc. Biotechnology Laboratory. The inaugural lecture was delivered by Dr. H. V. Chandrakanth at 10:00 AM on 13th July 2026, where he emphasized the vital role of forensic medicine in criminal investigations, highlighting the importance of crime scene management, scientific evidence collection, preservation, documentation, chain of custody, and the interpretation of medico-legal findings. He also shared his professional experiences as a forensic medicine expert, illustrating the integration of medical science with forensic investigations. Around 80 undergraduate students actively participated in the programme, benefiting from interactive discussions, demonstrations, and casebased learning. The Department expressed its sincere gratitude to Dr. H. V. Chandrakanth for his valuable contribution and for making the programme informative, interactive, and inspiring.
