
With the divine blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji and the support of leadership of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, the department of Pathology, JSSMC, takes pride in sharing the success of KAPCON 2026- The 52nd Annual State Conference of the Karnataka Chapter of the Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists(KCIAPM), conducted under the aegis of the KCIAPM from 3rd to 5th July 2026 preceded by 9 Pre-conference workshop on 2nd July 2025. The three-day conference brought together over 720 delegates, including postgraduate students, consultants, and practicing pathologists from Karnataka and across India. Distinguished faculty from premier institutions such as Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, AIIMS, New Delhi, PGIMER, Chandigarh, AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad, NIMHANS, Bengaluru and other leading centres delivered keynote lectures and panel discussions covering a wide spectrum of important and emerging topics in the specialty. Padma Shri Dr. Suresh Hanagavadi delivered the oration, which included his journey as a hemophiliac and his efforts in uplifting the treatment facilities for patients with hemophilia across the nation. The conference was inaugurated by chief guest, Padma Shri awardee Dr. Suresh Hanagavadi in the presence of Dr. B. Suresh, Pro-Chancellor, JSS AHER; Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa, Vice-Chancellor, JSS AHER; Dr. D. Narayanappa, Principal, JSS Medical College, Dr. C. P. Madhu, Director, JSS hospital and KCIAPM office bearers including Dr. K. V. Santosh (President), Dr. Aditya Agnihotri (Honorary Secretary), Dr. Thejasvi Krishnamurthy (Treasurer), and Dr. T. A. Sushma (KMC Observer), Dr. M. Asha, Organising Co-chairperson and Dr. B. R. Rajalakshmi, Joint Organising Secretary. The other dignitaries included Dr M N Suma, Vice principal, JSS medical College and Mr. S. Satishchandra, Administrative officer, JSS medical College. The invocation was rendered by Dr. K. Vani, and the delegates were welcomed by Dr. C. S. Sheela Devi, Organising Chairperson. Following the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, Dr. Suresh Hanagavadi was felicitated. Presiding over the function, Dr. B. Suresh emphasized the indispensable role of pathologists in ensuring accurate diagnosis and quality patient care. Dr. K. V. Santosh addressed the gathering, while Dr. Aditya Agnihotri presented the annual report of KCIAPM. During the inaugural ceremony, the Souvenir of KAPCON 2026, the Journal of Diagnostic and Academic Pathology, and the latest KCIAPM Newsletter were released. Updates on the journal and newsletter were presented by Dr. S Vijayshankar., Editor-in- Chief, and Dr. Ramya Suresh, Newsletter Editor, respectively. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. S. Suchitha, Organising Secretary. As a prelude to the conference, nine pre-conference hands-on workshops were conducted on 2nd July 2026. A unique feature of KAPCON 2026 was the active participation of the alumni of the Department of Pathology, JSS Medical College, who conducted four workshops and delivered two invited lectures, reflecting the institution’s enduring academic excellence. KAPCON 2026 concluded on a high note, reaffirming JSS Medical College and KCIAPM’s commitment to promoting excellence in pathology education, research, innovation, and patient care. The major highlight was 350 scientific presentations of paper and poster with Post graduate quiz. The proud moment was Post graduates of JSSMC securing the second place in State level postgraduate quiz (Dr Prakhar), first (Dr Akilnath) and second prize (Dr Deeksha) for Oral paper presentation and third prize for Poster (Dr Anjali S Sailas).
