Department of Medical Genetics Participates in the 11th BGCI Annual International Conference Faculty, students, and alumni from the Department of Medical Genetics, JSS Medical College, actively participated in the 11th BGCI Annual International Conference on the theme 'Genetic Counseling: Pivotal for Diagnosis, Treatment, and Management of Multiple Clinical Disorders,' held from July 3–5, 2026, at the Central University of Punjab, VPO Ghudda, Bathinda, Punjab. The conference was conducted in a hybrid format, enabling both in-person and virtual participation. As part of the scientific program, our Int. M.Sc. students Mr Adithya Urs and Ms Ananyashree presented their research through poster presentations, showcasing the department's ongoing work in medical genetics and genetic counselling. The conference also featured the participation of our alumni, Ms. Yamini and Ms. Jehan, who presented their research posters, reflecting the department's continued academic contributions. The students were guided and mentored by Dr Prince Jacob and Dr Akila Pashant for the poster presentations and by Dr Deepa Bhat, Professor & Head, Department of Anatomy and Senior Genetic Counsellor, Ms Judes Nisha, Genetic Counsellor in the Department of Medical Genetics, who mentored students and whose expertise and encouragement played an important role in the successful presentation of the research work. Participation in the conference provided an excellent opportunity for scientific exchange, networking with experts in genetics and genetic counselling, and exposure to the latest advances in the field. The Department congratulates all the presenters and mentors for representing JSS Medical College with distinction at this prestigious international conference.
