The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, JSS Dental College & Hospital, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, successfully organized a two-day workshop titled 'Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis – A Primer' on 19 and 20 June 2026

The workshop was conducted by Dr. R. Venkitachalam and Dr. Malathi Mini, who delivered comprehensive sessions on the principles and practical applications of evidence-based research. Participants received hands-on training in formulating research questions using the PICO framework, protocol development, literature search strategies, database searching, article screening, risk of bias assessment, data extraction, PRISMA reporting, and the fundamentals of meta-analysis, including the interpretation of forest and funnel plots

A key highlight of the workshop was the interactive practical sessions, where participants worked through each stage of the systematic review process under the expert guidance of the resource persons. Their mentorship and constructive feedback enabled participants to develop the confidence and skills required to initiate and conduct systematic review projects independently

The workshop effectively bridged the gap between theory and practice, enhancing participants' research competencies and reinforcing the importance of evidence-based research in academic and clinical practice
