
JSS Dental College & Hospital, Mysuru, celebrated International Yoga Day 2026 with great enthusiasm on its campus. The programme was organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of the institution with the objective of promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and holistic health among students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff
The event was graced by Dr. Dhakshaini M. R., Principal, JSS Dental College & Hospital. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. H. P. Jaishankar, Vice Principal, emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life to achieve physical, mental, and emotional balance. He highlighted the significance of International Yoga Day as a global movement that encourages healthy living and overall wellness
The yoga session witnessed the participation of 40 students and staff members. The session was conducted by Mr. Maltesh, Dental Hygienist at JSS Dental College & Hospital and a certified yoga and meditation practitioner. He guided the participants through various yoga asanas, pranayama exercises, and meditation techniques, explaining their benefits in improving flexibility, concentration, stress management, and overall health
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sharath Wodeyar, NSS Programme Officer and Faculty, Department of Periodontology, along with Dr. Alok U. A., Assistant NSS Programme Officer and Faculty, Department of Orthodontics, with valuable support from Dr. Ravi M. B., Faculty, Department of Prosthodontics
Participants actively engaged in the session and appreciated the initiative, which reinforced the importance of yoga as an effective means of achieving a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a collective pledge to incorporate yoga into daily life for personal well-being and community health
