The Department of Medical Genetics, JSS Medical College, JSSAHER, organized a two-day Cell and Gene Therapy Workshop in collaboration with Thermo Fisher Scientific. The workshop brought together faculty members, researchers, clinicians, postgraduate students, and industry experts to discuss recent advances in cell and gene therapy, with a special focus on CAR-T cell therapy and translational applications in precision medicine. The scientific sessions covered emerging trends, challenges, and future opportunities in CAR-T therapy, along with comprehensive discussions on cell processing, T-cell isolation, lentiviral expansion, electroporation technologies, quality control, safety testing, and scalable manufacturing solutions for cell and gene therapy workflows. Experts from Thermo Fisher Scientific and academic institutions shared their knowledge and practical experiences on advanced technologies that are shaping the future of personalized medicine. A key highlight of the workshop was the interactive demonstrations and hands-on exposure to state-of-the-art instrumentation used in cell therapy workflows. Participants also benefited from discussions on regulatory considerations, workflow optimization, and quality assurance in advanced therapeutic development. The workshop provided an excellent platform for interdisciplinary learning, academic interaction, and industry-academia collaboration.
