A Qualitative Research Bootcamp was conducted on 17th April 2026 under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research. The workshop was organized in view of the growing importance of qualitative research in medical education and clinical practice, particularly in understanding complex behavioral, social, and patient-centered dimensions of healthcare. The initiative also aimed to promote interdisciplinary learning by bringing together participants from diverse academic backgrounds and encouraging collaborative research approaches. The program commenced with an inauguration ceremony at 10:00 AM. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Pushpalata K, Dean, IQAC, JSS AHER, and Dr. M. N. Suma, Vice Principal, JSS Medical College, by watering the plant, symbolizing the nurturing of knowledge and academic growth. This was followed by the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Pratham Mehta. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Deepa Bhat, Professor and Head, Department of Anatomy; Dr. Shwethashree M, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine; and Dr. Pratham Mehta, Tutor, Department of Anatomy. The bootcamp witnessed enthusiastic participation from undergraduate, postgraduate students and PhD scholars across JSS AHER. The sessions were structured to emphasize hands-on learning rather than didactic teaching, enabling participants to actively engage with the process of qualitative research. The workshop comprehensively covered key components, including development of research questions, preparation of interview guides, techniques of conducting qualitative interviews, coding methods, and thematic analysis. A major focus of the bootcamp was on translating qualitative research into publishable scientific work. Participants were guided on structuring manuscripts for international journals, including framing of research questions, presentation of findings, and adherence to reporting standards. This practical orientation ensured that participants not only understood the methodology but also gained insight into the process of academic writing and publication. The program concluded with a valedictory ceremony at 4:00 PM. The ceremony was graced by Dr. Pushpalata K, Dean, IQAC and Dr. Madhu B, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine. Certificates were distributed to the participants, and the facilitators were felicitated in recognition of their contributions. The workshop was successful in achieving its objectives and was well-received by the participants, providing them with valuable interdisciplinary exposure and practical competence in qualitative research and scientific writing. Overall, the workshop was well received, with participants appreciating the smooth organization, engaging facilitation, and the quality of hands on session organized. The sessions were seen as relevant and useful for academic and research needs, and attendees felt that the workshop helped strengthen their understanding and confidence in qualitative research, especially pertaining to coding and analysis. Participants particularly valued the clear explanations and interactive nature of the sessions, and overall, the workshop was considered an enriching and worthwhile learning experience.
