The Scientific Chapter of Dr. Devanath’s Birth Year Centenary Celebrations was successfully organized by the Department of Periodontology, JSS Dental College & Hospital, in association with the Bangalore Academy of Periodontologists, Government Dental College and Research Institute (GDCRI), Bengaluru, and its Alumni Association

Dr. Manjunatha B., Registrar, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSSAHER), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour included Dr. Vijayendra R., President, GDCRI Alumni Association; Dr. B. K. Giri, Secretary, GDCRI Alumni Association; and Dr. Suresh, Treasurer, GDCRI Alumni Association

The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Dhakshaini M. R., Principal, JSS Dental College & Hospital, followed by the Chief Guest’s address. Dr. Vijayendra R. highlighted the remarkable contributions of Dr. Devanath to the field of Periodontology

The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Raison Thomas on the topic “Controversies in Periodontology,” offering valuable academic insights. This was followed by an engaging panel discussion on “Advances in Periodontal Regeneration,” featuring an esteemed panel comprising Dr. Joan Pauline George, Dr. Fouzia, Dr. Radhika B., Dr. Jagadish Pai, and Dr. Ashwin Prabhu

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from postgraduate students across Karnataka. Academic activities such as “Pick & Speak” and a Quiz Competition were conducted, and winners were awarded prizes

The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Suman Basavaraju, Head of the Department of Periodontology, JSS Dental College & Hospital

The event was highly appreciated by delegates, senior faculty from GDCRI, and members of the GDCRI Alumni Association. Overall, the program proved to be academically enriching, significantly benefiting postgraduate students by enhancing their understanding of contemporary advances in periodontal regeneration
