
The Internal Complaints Committee of JSS Medical College organized the International Women’s Day Celebration 2026 on 14 March 2026 under the theme “Give to Gain.” The programme commenced with an invocation song by Dr Nagashree V Assistant Professor of Physiology and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance and the spread of knowledge. The event was graced by Dr. Renuka M, Deputy Controller of Examinations, JSS AHER, Sri S R Satish Chandra administrative officer, Dr. Vijaya B, Chairperson of the Internal Complaints Committee and Dr. Vidya C S, Member Secretary of the ICC ,Dr. Aisha Sharieff, Senior Professor of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management Mrs. Pooja Harsha, Chairman of the WAKO India Women Committee and General Secretary of the Karnataka Kickboxing Sports Association. The inaugural segment highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in fostering safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces for women within academic institutions. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Vijaya B, Chairperson of the Internal Complaints Committee, with the support of the organizing team. The inauguration concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vidya C S, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, resource persons, organizers, and participants for their valuable presence and support. Dr Pratham Mehta tutor in Anatomy co-ordinated entire program. Following the inaugural session, the event featured two informative invited talks. Dr. Aisha Sharieff, Senior Professor of Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management, delivered an insightful talk on Women’s Awareness on Cyber Crimes, highlighting the growing risks faced by women in digital spaces and emphasizing preventive strategies, digital literacy, and available legal safeguards. This was followed by an engaging session by Mrs. Pooja Harsha, Chairman of the W.A.K.O India Women Committee and General Secretary of the Karnataka Kickboxing Sports Association, who demonstrated basic steps of self-defense, personal safety, and confidence-building among women. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, students, and staff, and served as a meaningful platform to promote awareness, empowerment, and dialogue on women’s rights and safety, in alignment with the spirit of International Women’s Day.
