Workshop and CME program in Oncopathology PRECISION PATHOLOGY- ALIGNING VISIONS FOR CANCER DIAGNOSIS

The Department of Pathology, JSS Medical College & Hospital, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, in association with Tata Medical Centre & Tata Trusts School of Oncopathology (TTSOP), successfully organized a three-day Workshop and Continuing Medical Education (CME) program in Oncopathology “PRECISION PATHOLOGY- ALIGNING VISIONS FOR CANCER DIAGNOSIS” from 19th February to 21st February 2026 at JSS Hospital, Mysuru. The TTSOP team comprised specialists in Oncopathology, Medical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology, along with experienced technologists. The program was conducted with the objective of enhancing diagnostic skills, promoting multidisciplinary interaction and updating participants on recent advances in Oncopathology. The first two days were dedicated to intensive workshops for pathologists. The workshop commenced with laboratory rounds by TTSOP faculty, followed by a structured grossing session in which six faculty members from JSS Medical College presented various Oncopathology cases. The session facilitated practical learning and academic interaction. The afternoon session featured a Multidisciplinary Tumor Board Meeting, during which 11 cases were presented by faculty from various clinical departments including: General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Urology, ENT and Ophthalmology. The session was interactive and engaging, with active participation from faculty across clinical departments including Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology from JSS Hospital, TTSOP team and other hospitals in Mysuru city and different parts of Karnataka. Approximately 200 delegates attended the Tumor Board Meeting. Day 2 featured slide viewing under the microscope with projection display for group discussion. Approximately 30 diagnostically challenging cases were presented by faculty from various medical colleges and laboratories across Karnataka. Around 150 delegates attended the pathology workshop sessions over the two days. The third day comprised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program and the following distinguished speakers delivered lectures: Dr. Aravindan K P – Prostate Biopsy Interpretation Dr. Praveen Mahajan – Testicular Tumors Dr. Poonam – Breast Lesions Dr. Shilpa Prabhudesai – Ovarian Tumors Dr. Kedar Deodhar – Endometrial Carcinoma The CME sessions were comprehensive and academically enriching. Approximately 200 delegates attended the CME. In parallel with the academic sessions, a structured training program for technologists was conducted over three days. The program included sessions covering basic laboratory practices and troubleshooting methods in Hematology, Cytology, and Histopathology. Approximately 55 technologists from various institutes and laboratories participated in the workshop. The three-day Workshop and CME in Oncopathology facilitated multidisciplinary collaboration in enhancing diagnostic skills among pathologists and clinicians. It provided a platform for exchange of knowledge and practical skills to technologists. The enthusiastic participation and interactive discussions reflected the growing importance of integrated Oncopathology practice. The program contributed to academic exchange and professional development in the field of Oncopathology.
