The Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, JSS Dental College & Hospital, Mysuru, celebrated Prosthodontist Day 2026 on 22nd January at the Sri Gowrishankara Auditorium. The event aimed to commemorate the specialty, promote creative academic engagement, and raise awareness regarding oral health and denture care. Inauguration and Significance

The programme was presided over by Dr. Dhakshaini M.R., Principal, JSSDC&H, and attended by Dr. Jaishankar (Vice Principal), Dr. Anushree (AAO), and Heads of various departments. Following the traditional lighting of the lamp, Dr. Raghavendra Swamy K N delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the prosthodontist’s vital role in restoring patient confidence and quality of life. Patient Education and Outreach

A key highlight of the event was the release of a patient awareness pamphlet titled “Dry Mouth and Polypharmacy,” designed by Dr. Sowmya S, focusing on the oral health impacts of multiple medications in elderly patients

Educational initiatives included

Awareness Talk: Delivered by Dr. Nagausha N and Dr. Chandini C K, assisted by undergraduate students, covering denture maintenance and oral hygiene

Denture Kit Distribution: Dr. Dhakshaini M.R., Dr. Anil Kumar Gujjari, and Dr. Ganesh S presided over the distribution of denture maintenance kits to thirty patients. These kits were sponsored by the department faculty to reinforce commitment to preventive prosthodontics

Awareness Walk: Coordinated by Dr. Ravi M B, Dr. Kathayayani C.P., and Dr. Anupama C., an awareness walk was held at Kukkarahalli Lake to engage the general public on the importance of prosthodontic care. Competitions and Academic Engagement
